GYMNASTICS (Updated): Seven Klahhane gymnasts qualify for regionals after state XCel championships

PASCO — Seven Klahhane Xcel gymnasts qualified for regionals after competing at the Washington State Xcel Championships this weekend.

The top highlight for the Olympic Peninsula gymnasts was a first-place floor championship medal by Elyse Brown with a 9.6.

Lorelei Sanders and Zayleigh McCullem both placed second on the vault with scores of 9.4, while Lainey DePiro placed second on the vault with an 8.575 and third on the beam with a 9.375.

Harper Hilliker was third on the vault with a 9.22, Mariah Traband was third on the floor with a 9.5 and Scarlett Sullivan third on the vault with a 9.4.

Xcel Gold gymnast Lainey DePiro also qualified for regionals with a 36.7 all-around score.

Regionals will be held April 19-20 in Boise, Idaho.

Six out of the 17 Klahhane Xcel gymnasts who competed will move on to regionals. This includes Elyse Brown (Xcel Platinum), Scarlett Sullivan (Xcel Platinum), Mariah Traband (Xcel Platinum), Harper Hilliker (Xcel Platinum), Carley Mae Riggs (Xcel Gold) and Paytynn Lindley (Xcel Gold). Platinum gymnasts had to earn at least an all-around score of 35.0 to qualify for regionals, while the bottom qualifying score for gold was 36.6.

Xcel Silver: Abigail Odland, junior C session 08B, fourth on beam, 9.4, and 13th all-around, 36.400; Harper Waterkotte, junior A session, 09B, fifth on floor, 9.0, and 11th all-around 36.075; Raeleigh Thomason, junior C session 08B, fifth on floor, 9.150, and seventh all-around, 36.825.

Xcel Gold: Carly Mae Riggs, child A session 07A, seventh on vault, 9.175, 11th on bars, 9.275, fourth on beam, 9.4, fifth on floor, 9.4, and fourth all-around, 37.250; Paytynn Lindley, child B session 07A, 11th on vault, 9.1, 12th on bars, 9.2, 14th on beam, 9.175, 12th on floor, 9.225, and 12th all-around, 36.700; Lainey DePiro, junior B session 06A, second on vault, 8.575, fourth on bars, 9.5, third on beam, 9.375, ninth on floor, 9.250, and fifth all-around, 36.7; Raynee Ciarlo, junior A session 06A: 14th on vault, 8.950, fifth on bars, 9.350, 15th on beam, 8.8, 19th on floor, 9.1, and 12th all-around, 36.2; Gracelyn Goss: 8.2 on vault, fourth on bars, 9.45, 9.0 on beam, 8.9 on floor and 35.55 AA.
