Register now for popular Lefties T-Ball camp in July

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula YMCA and the Port Angeles Lefties are partnering to offer the annual T-Ball Camp with the Lefties on July 22-24.

All 4-to-6-year olds are eligible to participate in the camp, which will provide an orientation to the sport and skill building taught by Port Angeles Lefties players.

Participants also will take the Civic Field diamond at the Lefties’ home game July 24.

The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.

The cost is $40 for nonmembers, $30 for YMCA members and includes a T-shirt.

Future Riders registration

PORT ANGELES — An in-person registration for Port Angeles Future Riders youth football and cheer will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St.

Future Riders offers flag football for ages 4-6 ($75) and tackle football ($200) for C-squad (6-8); B-squad (9-10) and A-squad (11-12).

The cheer program is for ages 6-12 and is $175.

The season runs from August through October.

Scholarships and family discounts are available at the in-person registration.

Registration ends July 6.

Cedars ladies

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness’ Lady Golfers held their Monthly Medal competition Tuesday with Linda Hash and Jane Peoples tying for the top spot in the First Flight Gross division with each shooting rounds of 89.

Anne Elwell and Mimi Shin also tied for first in the First Flight’s Net division with both carding 75.

Hash carded a birdie on the fifth hole and also was closest to the pin on No. 8 and No. 17.

Peoples birdied the fourth hole and was second in putts with 33 behind Lisa Chon’s 31. Chon also birdied the fifth hole.

Judy Reno and Kathy Langston tied atop the Second Flight’s Gross division after shooting 96.

Lori Oakes was the Second Flight Net winner with a 70 with Bev Handshumaker and Carin Bunney each shooting 75.

Bunney notched a chip-in off the green on No. 6.

Barb Burrows tied with Oakes for low putts in the Second Flight (32) and also was closest-to-the pin on No. 17.

The women are beginning their annual President’s Cup competition, a round robin tournament with 16 competitors, which will continue through July.

Thorpe football camp

FORKS — Former Seattle Seahawks special teams captain and current assistant coach Neiko Thorpe will put on a youth football camp and training session at Spartan Stadium on July 6.

A camp for ages 6-through-13 will run from 9 a.m. to noon with a camp T-shirt included.

The camp is $140 with a sibling discount.

A targeted training session for ages 13-and-older will follow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is $115 to $140 and includes a T-shirt.

Closing Day ceremony

SEQUIM — Sequim Little League will wrap the regular season with a Closing Day ceremony on Saturday.

The ceremony begins at noon at the fields at 124 W. Silberhorn Road.

The event will also feature a dunk tank, pitching contest, a foam party and concessions.
