EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Port Angeles to conduct public hearing on capital facilities plan

Government agencies this week will consider a public records officer position, the closeout of the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act grant program and a public hearing regarding the city of Port Angeles’ capital facilities plan and its transportation improvement plan.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a resolution appointing Jesse Major as the public records officer during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m., will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• An agreement with Bud Clary Ford for $70,051 to purchase a 2024 F150 Lightning for the Sheriff’s Office road cleanup crews.

• An agreement with 4Sight Labs for $24,687 to provide health sensors for at-risk jail inmates.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for $94,000 to fund Olympic oyster restoration work by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe in Sequim Bay.

• An agreement with Facet, Inc. for $264,021 to provide professional services related to the update of the county’s comprehensive plan.

• Award of the 2024 hot mix asphalt contract to Lakeside Construction for its low bid of $683,565.

• Agreements with the Quileute, Makah and Hoh tribes and the Clallam County Economic Development Council regarding the North Olympic Peninsula Recompete Coalition.

• A public hearing regarding the proposed renewal of the Lake Sutherland Management District #2 beyond its Dec. 31 expiration.

• A public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the county building and construction code.

• Opening of proposals for development and completion of a community wildfire protection plan.

• A letter of support for the 10,000 Years Institute’s Pulling Together: Jobs in Restoration and Resiliency program.

• A draft interlocal agreement with the cities of Forks, Port Angeles and Sequim, clarifying roles related to a state Department of Commerce climate planning grant to assist with updating the county multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan.

• Pre-grant questionnaire relating to a 2024 drought response grant from the state Department of Ecology.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, regarding a proposed ordinance regulating agriculture accessory uses.

• A request to waive the bidding process for the Olympic Adventure Trail Whiskey Creek bridge replacement project.

• An agreement with Signature Roof Services, LLC, for $85,758 to replace the roof of the Art Barn at the county fairgrounds.

• An amended agreement with Norpoint Services for continued security services at the county courthouse.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, regarding the proposed expenditure of $940,000 from the county opportunity fund for the Clallam Bay/Sekiu sewer system pump station replacement project.
