Meetings across Clallam and Jefferson counties

An update from Olympic National Park, new burn regulations and several workshops are set next week for boards and commissions across the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear an update on Olympic National Park from Superintendent Sula Jacobs during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A letter of support for the Port of Port Angeles port infrastructure development program.

• Annual renewal of the longstanding memorandum of understanding with Washington State University regarding the county extension.

• An agreement with Carousel Industries for $68,744 to provide phone system maintenance and support.

• An agreement with the state Military Department to renew the annual Operation Stonegarden grant.

• Discussion regarding a proposed grant application to the state Administrative Office of Courts to fund a Veterans Court.

• An agreement with the state Department of Agriculture for a $150,000 reimbursable grant to perform safety upgrades to the dog barn and agility arena at the county fairgrounds.

• Right-of-Way purchases from Clifford and Judy Hewitt and from Joel and Shauna Wilhelm for a fish barrier mitigation project on Bear Creek Road.

• An agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture regarding weed control within the Olympic National Forest by county personnel.

• A grant application for $35,215 from the state Criminal Justice Training Commission for a wellness training program for patrol and corrections deputies.

• A letter to the state Utilities and Trade Commission regarding proposed rate increases for five water systems recently purchased by Cascadia Water, LLC, of Freeland.

• A call for bids to supply hot mix and CSS-1 liquid asphalt for 2024; bids must be received by 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28.

• A resolution to disburse $1.5 million in conservation futures funds for Cameron Farm Estates, Heifer Farm North and, possibly, Maple View Heritage.

• Opening of bids for phase 3 of the lower Dungeness River floodplain restoration and levee/road realignment project.

• Opening of bids for the McDonald Creek irrigation and fish passage improvement project.

• Opening of bids for hearing examiner services.

• Several resolutions appointing or reappointing members of various volunteer boards and commissions.
