YMCA to host Healthy Kids Day on Saturday

PORT ANGELES — The YMCA of Port Angeles will celebrate Healthy Kids Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The annual celebration is at the YMCA, 302 S. Francis St., and other YMCAs across the county.

The celebration will feature activities for kids in the YMCA parking lot, including Strait Up Foam Fun, an obstacle course, a boxing fitness class, bike race on the stationary bikes, photo ops with lifeguards, bike helmet fitting with free helmets, games, prizes and healthy snacks.

There will also be special guests from the U.S. Coast Guard, First Step Family Support Center, Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition and Crescent Schools.

“Healthy Kids Day is all about creating opportunities for kids to have fun and engage in activities that promote healthy habits,” said Sarah Hinis, the Y’s program executive for youth development.

Adults 18 and older are required to bring a valid photo ID to the event.
